    Charles Komar founded The Atlas Underwear Company in 1908. After WWII, Sidney, Herman and Harold Komar joined and the company became Charles Komar and Sons. Today, third generation Charlie and David operate the brand as Komar.

    Our first factory was above a horse stable in lower Manhattan. Today, we have corporate offices steps away from the Empire State Building, showrooms on Madison Avenue, strategically located distribution centers in the US, Europe and Asia and a solid sourcing network across the Far East.

Today, Komar is proud to represent over 100 lifestyle brands and licenses through our retail partners who sell worldwide at every price point. With a network of factories in fourteen different countries and distribution centers in the US, Europe and China, we are a global organization that maintains an efficient, transparent and approachable style to business.

OUR HERITAGE

In 1908, Charles Komar started a women’s intimate apparel business in New York City’s Lower East Side with a 500 dollar bank loan, a couple second-hand sewing machines and the guiding principle: “You have only one reputation.”

While we quickly made a name selling long-sleeved gowns and drawstring bloomers, in 1917 we made an indelible mark by creating the premier American-made slip. As the first apparel company to introduce nylon and rayon fibers as staple fabrics in 1946, our name became synonymous with cutting-edge, high-value goods sold in volume. By 1979, we had experienced a 400% sales increase over 20 years.

Now, with third-generation Komars at the helm, our privately-held, family-run company is an industry leader in the design, marketing, sourcing and distribution of Sleepwear, Intimates, Kids, Layering and Lifestyle brands. We attribute this century-long success to our unshakable investment in creativity, innovation, customer service and social responsibility.
